Environment and Conservation Fund Green Building Education and Capacity Building Programmes - Green Building Tour to The Henderson (只供英文版)

Registration starts at 10:00 am on 16 January 2026 (Friday)

Limited seats. First come, first served.

Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund and organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), this programme enables the general public to hear directly from green building designers or operators, allowing them to gain a deeper insight into the green design concepts and operational strategies of some renowned green buildings.

Programmes Highlight:

As the epitome of world-class office and architectural excellence, The Henderson is set to become an iconic presence on Murray Road in Central. Inspired by the blossoming bud of a Bauhinia and designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, its distinctive forms are realised through six mega-columns and a single side-core steel structure. The Henderson introduces a new kind of workplace in Hong Kong—centred on employee health and wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and smart digital technology—with five basement parking levels, 25 office floors, and a Cloud-Banquet Hall on the 39th floor. Complementing this vision, the building is embedded in a green urban setting of parks and landscaped gardens, and features a Sky Garden on the 22nd floor—a recreational space with a running track and extensive vertical greenery that acts as an air-purifying filter—open to all building users for moments of respite.

The Henderson’s curved glass facade embodies a resilient, sustainability-led design approach that reduces UV ingress, minimises solar heat gain, and enhances thermal comfort and energy efficiency across occupied areas—ultimately reducing the building’s carbon footprint. Engineered with four-ply, 3D-curved, double-laminated glass panels formed via custom digital moulds, the facade withstands extreme weather conditions such as super-typhoons and rainstorms. Extending this commitment beyond the building envelope, Henderson Land has launched an industry-first three-way ESG partnership at The Henderson, linking landlords, tenants, and individuals to drive collective progress towards shared sustainability goals.

Inside, world-first building systems elevate wellbeing and hygiene while maintaining rigorous environmental performance. Air quality is supported by a liquid desiccant cooling system that simultaneously optimises indoor temperature, dehumidifies, and filters the air. To counter the health impacts of poorly lit workplaces, a circadian lighting system synchronises with human biological rhythms by emulating natural daylight cycles and correlated colour temperature, fostering a healthier, more restorative work environment.

Anticipating future needs in workplace comfort, operational flexibility, and global sustainability targets, The Henderson integrates proprietary, solar-powered innovations and advanced airflow strategies. Solar-Responsive Ventilators (SRVs)—designed specifically for the project and powered by rooftop photovoltaics—mitigate radiant heat transfer from the exterior, while an aerodynamic airflow design creates an insulating air cushion between the facade and office spaces to stabilise indoor thermal conditions. Complementing these measures, the project-specific Lift Sterilisation Pod continuously sanitises elevator air and surfaces with UV-C and ionisation, enhancing hygiene by actively addressing bacteria and viruses.

Reinforcing these design and operational achievements, The Henderson has earned top-tier awards locally and internationally, and is accredited with smart, green, and healthy labels across international, national, and local levels.
