Environment and Conservation Fund Green Building Education and Capacity Building Programmes - “How to Become a Green Building Professional" Career Talk (只提供英文版)

Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund and organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), this career talk is designed to support tertiary students in understanding the value of green building credentials as a foundational element of professional practice in the built environment.

The building sector makes a significant contribution to climate change as it is responsible for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions.  Decarbonising the building sector is a key strategy for countries and regions to achieve their net-zero emission targets.  Coupled with the push generated by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, “buildings” are recognised as an essential factor contributing to human health and the well-being of society.  From a local perspective, the Buildings Department has introduced an updated performance-based gross floor area (GFA) concession mechanism, which requires building projects to achieve specific BEAM Plus ratings to be eligible for GFA concessions. Taking these into account, if you are studying a subject related to the built environment, equipping yourself with green building skills and credentials would be one essential pillar of practice.

In this talk, the HKGBC will give a detailed account of the following:

- The Green Building Industry in Hong Kong

- Common Entry Qualifications

- Top-up Courses and Credential Exams Available

- Preparation Work during Tertiary Studies
