Towards a Quality and Sustainable Built Environment in Hong Kong - An Investment Fund's Viewpoint

This presentation will look at sustainability from an investment fund’s viewpoint. Is there a conflict between the goals of sustainability initiatives and an investment fund’s more traditional goals? In particular, the ongoing options being discussed in Hong Kong on how to move forward on the sustainability issue in the building development sector will be looked at from an Investment Fund’s viewpoint.

Tom serves as the Regional Director of Development for LaSalle Asia Pacific. He is responsible for overseeing the development management process on capital development projects throughout Asia. Tom also oversees the LaSalle Asia Pacific Sustainability Program and is a member of the LaSalle Investment Management Global Sustainability Task Force.

Tom has 30 years of experience in real estate development projects throughout Asia, Europe and the U.S. Tom has held senior executive positions in the real estate development/ construction industry worldwide, including over 10 years of regional experience in Asia, and 10 years experience in Europe. His experience in these markets includes commercial, residential, retail, hospitality, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects. Internationally, Tom has been responsible for overseeing the execution of development projects in many countries, but most significantly in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia , UK, Spain, and Portugal.

Education and Affiliates
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, (Notre Dame, Indiana, USA) a Masters Degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University (Washington D.C, USA) , and an Executive MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid, Spain)
