In order to nurture future leaders to jointly foster the green building development and promotion, the Council is now launching a “Green Building Young Leaders” (GBYL) Programme to appoint industry young elites to participate in the planning and execution of the Council’s green building projects/tasks in 2022 till end of 2023. GBYL is a group of multi-disciplinary industry practitioners aged 35 or below, with high awareness on sustainability issues across the industries and are passionate to serve the community. By participating in an array of green building related projects/tasks organised by the Council, GBYLs are able to demonstrate their social commitments and raise the personal profile for further advancement.

Privileges of becoming a GBYL:

• Join an exclusive in-person gathering to meet the top management and senior leaders in the green building and sustainability field to expand the professional networks;
• Join a mentorship programme with HKGBC Directors and/or Committee Members as mentors to pave the way to become the leaders of tomorrow;
• Opportunity to receive special subsidy to attend overseas and local green building conference (subject to the travel restriction imposed under the epidemic)

Upon successful appointment, GBYLs will:

• Select at least one designated project/task of the Council, covering the areas of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) trainings, research-based projects, public and school engagement activities.
• Contribute ideas and involve in the execution of the selected projects/tasks, while obtaining guidance from the mentors and supported by the HKGBC Secretariat.

As a token of appreciation, the time dedicated in each selected project/task will be automatically uploaded to the BEAM Pro Individual Account.
 

Application
If you are of age 35 or below and have strong interest in the Programme, please fill in this form and submit a video of duration within 2 minutes (in either English or Cantonese) on one of the following topics on or before 12:00 noon 13 May 2022 (Fri).

• How would you make use of your professional knowledge to arouse public interest in green building?
• How would you convince more private companies to adopt green building for office premises?
• How would you promote green building concepts in schools? What are the possible strategies to involve students in green building education?

 

Selection Process
A Selection Panel including senior executives from top-notch developers and environmental consultants in Hong Kong, as well as the pivotal industry leaders will review the submitted information. Screening and interview may be required if deemed appropriate. Tentatively, around 8-10 Young Leaders will be appointed. The Term of Office is Jun 2022 – Dec 2023.
