Environment and Conservation Fund Green Building Education and Capacity Building Programmes - Micro-credential Topical Course
Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund and organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), this micro-credential topical course series is designed to provide participants with more in-depth continuing education than traditional CPD webinars. It enables practitioners to construct weekend or after-hours study programmes that meet their development needs. Courses will be rolled out at a frequency of about 1-2 courses per month, throughout a period of two years from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2027. Participants taking 20 or more courses can apply for a skill enhancement certificate from HKGBC, certifying their significant efforts in studying green building.
Micro-credential Topical Course: Light Pollution Control and Human-centric Lighting
This course will include a lecture, a live demonstration, and a brief walkthrough of a light hub room set up for training and exhibition. It will cover:
- An overview of the Backlight-Uplight-Glare (BUG) rating for outdoor lighting fixtures
- Light pollution control and eco-lighting strategies (e.g. shielding, direction control, DarkSky Approved programme)
- Circadian and human-centric tuneable lighting and its applications
- Case studies and relevant project references

Target Audience: Those who wish to learn more about outdoor light pollution control and eco-lighting strategies as well as indoor tuneable lighting using the human-centric approach.

- A certificate of attendance will be issued by email around a week after the event to participants who attend more than 80% of the course. For those attending via Zoom, they also need to complete the pre-course questionnaire, the mid-way online polling, and the post-course questionnaire to prove their presence; otherwise, a certificate of attendance may not be issued.
- All participants shall follow the safety rules laid down by the site's responsible person.
- Participants should note that neither HKGBC nor the parties concerned would accept liability in connection with this event.
- If you feel unwell, have fever or any sickness symptoms, please refrain from joining the course.
- The event will be cancelled when the Typhoon Signal No.8 or above, Black Rainstorm Signal or Extreme Conditions is hoisted at 1:00 pm.
