This event is organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council.

Since the implementation of the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting Guide by the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (HKEx), the growing awareness and adoption of annual ESG disclosures has permeated across private and public sectors in Hong Kong. For the real estate industry, having quality ESG disclosures may be considered a competitive edge as more attention is being focused on global sustainability benchmarks and indices such as GRESB and DJSI. On the other hand, regulators and investors are urging more climate-related disclosure from corporates following Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework as our properties are exposing to a variety of physical and transition risks due to climate change. Integrating the green building movement with quality ESG disclosure and climate risks management is of paramount importance in keeping up with the competitive landscape.

In light of the latest development in green building standards, namely BEAM Plus New Buildings (NB) V2.0 and Existing Buildings (EB) V2.0, this presentation will provide a high-level overview of how credits pursued in the respective BEAM Plus standards may be translated to effective disclosure statements under the HKEx ESG Reporting Guide or the GRI Standards frameworks respectively. Key elements of TCFD framework will also be introduced. The audience is anticipated to gain insights on how to better integrate the outcomes and outputs of green building assessments into effective and impactful ESG reporting.
