Nan Fung Partners with Soho House to Drive Waste Reduction via the Net Positive Lease
Through Nan Fung Group’s tenant-landlord engagement programme, the Net Positive Lease (“NPL”), the Group recently partnered with its tenant, Soho House, on a tailored waste reduction training session designed specifically for their frontline and operations teams.
The session was guided by a two-month, AI-powered waste audit conducted in partnership with Spare-it, which identified recyclable materials that were previously being disposed of as general waste. In response to these findings, the teams introduced a dedicated food waste bin and optimised the collection workflow in Soho House's Central Kitchen. These targeted measures successfully reduced the "missed-opportunity rate" of recyclables ending up in the general waste bin from approximately 75% to 66%.
Building on this momentum, the training session equipped staff with practical recycling knowledge, clarified common misconceptions, and fostered simple, sustainable habits that can be easily integrated into daily workflows.
From Data to Action Through the NPL
This partnership highlights how the NPL supports tenants across the entire tenancy cycle, enabling meaningful collaboration through practical tools, data-driven insights, tailored advisory support, and outcome-based incentives.
Over the past year, NPL tenants have achieved highly encouraging sustainability milestones. Key highlights and figures* include:

Over the past year, NPL tenants have achieved highly encouraging sustainability milestones. Key highlights and figures* include:
- HK$13.2 million in social value generated or captured through tenant-led initiatives
- 6% reduction in Energy Use Intensity – equivalent to approximately 631,000 kWh saved
- 26% waste diversion rate, keeping waste out of landfills through recycling and reduction programmes
*Calculations based on figures from NPL tenants who reported energy and waste data for both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 cycles
