Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2026 – Hong Kong Stage Showcases Emerging Design Talent

Co-organised by Saint-Gobain and The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), the Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2026 – Hong Kong Stage concluded successfully on 8 May 2026 at the HKIA Premises, bringing together rising architectural talents from Hong Kong and Macau for a day of ideas, innovation, and sustainable design.

Nine university teams presented design proposals focused on the construction and renovation of a recreational area in Belgrade, Serbia. Their concepts demonstrated creativity, technical thinking, and forward-looking solutions, earning praise from both the judging panel and the audience.

Following the jury’s deliberation, the winning team was announced as Carmen LAU Kai-yan, Ingrid FUNG Wing-in, and LIAO Ho-ngai from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The team received a prize of HK$10,000 and will represent Hong Kong on the international stage of the contest in Belgrade, Serbia, this June.

The programme also featured an expert-led panel discussion titled “Sustainable Architecture: Designing Delight for Tourism & Recreational Projects”. The session provided students and guests with practical insights into sustainable design strategies, while examining how architecture can enrich the experience of tourism and leisure developments.

Saint-Gobain expressed appreciation to all participants and supporting partners, including the Hong Kong Green Building Council, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and the Architects Association of Macau, for their contributions to the event’s success, and looks forward to another strong edition of the competition next year.
