[FULL HOUSE] Seminar on Water Saving and Recycling Technologies

Thank you for your keen support, this event is now FULL HOUSE!

Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) organises a Mandatory CPD Seminar for BEAM Pro.

The wise use and safe recycling of water are two important aspects in the design of sustainable buildings.  The Government has formulated a Total Water Management Strategy for ensuring sustainable use of water resources.  One of the key initiatives in this strategy is water reclamation, which includes grey water recycling and rainwater harvesting. However, a review of twelve recently certified BEAM Plus Platinum projects shows that while rainwater harvesting is popular, grey water recycling is not yet commonly applied.  Also of related interest are minimisation of effluent discharge and water-efficient irrigation.  Recently, waterfree urinals have found applications in an increasing number of projects including public buildings, universities, hotels and other private-sector projects.  And with the growing popularity of green roofs, drip-line and automatic irrigation systems are key techniques to achieve wise use of water.

In this seminar, Water Supplies Department will deliver an opening address to provide a brief account of the specifications and guidelines on water reclamation that are being developed by the Department. Then representatives from the Hong Kong Productivity Council, Falcon Waterfree Technologies and PMS Engineering will discuss the technical principles and application details of grey water recycling, waterfree urinals and water-efficient irrigation respectively.  Particular emphasis will be given to the applications of these technologies in Hong Kong, including their potential, constraints and regulatory compliance issues.
