Introduction
With emerging concerns over the environmental performance of green products, the Hong Kong Green Building Council Limited (HKGBC) established the Eco-Product Directory to address the need. This listing directory provides a user-friendly platform that connects manufacturers and suppliers of green products with building professionals. Green products listed in the Eco-Product Directory gain exposure to Hong Kong leading developers, architectural consultancies, construction companies and procurement decision makers.


Why Green Building Products?
From choosing green office supplies to ensuring good indoor air quality and using environmentally friendly building materials for renovation, green building products have a direct impact on the health and environment of people who work or live inside buildings.

Moreover, building materials, such as concrete and steel, are among the most energy consuming and carbon intensive materials. To tackle the global challenge of reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption, procuring and using green building products will definitely help create a more sustainable built environment.


Recognised Certifications and Standards
The HKGBC Eco-Product Directory accepts different types of green product certifications and environmental standards for building products from around the globe, with the aim to enhance the transparency of green building products in the market. The key objective is to stimulate both the supply and demand of green building products, while encouraging product providers to obtain green product labels to strengthen the credibility and market recognition of their offerings. 

The HKGBC recognises all products certified under the following categories of product certifications and programmes:
 
  • CIC Green Product Certification
  • Eco-labelling Scheme (Type 1 and Type 3)  
  • Product Certifications on Recycling Content  
  • Product Certifications on Sustainable Sources  
  • Energy Efficiency Labels  
  • Product Carbon Footprint Labels  
  • Hazardous Substances Free  
  • Other Green Product Certifications or Equivalent Schemes
