3. Session 1.7 Vision-led Sustainable Neighbourhoods: Myths and Musts
|AECOM partners with visionary clients and vendors to imagine and deliver a better world. AECOM has dedicated its booth at WSBE17 Hong Kong to share insights with fellow delegates on these bold visions and, as importantly, the innovation in technology and process that will enable them to be delivered. |
The AECOM booth at WSBE17 Hong Kong has been specially designed with the goal of minimising electricity and the consumption of construction materials.
AECOM invites delegates to try some of the technologies and learn more about the virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (including the Hololens) that we are using on projects, and to experience the look and feel of groundbreaking infrastructure even before the first shovel breaks ground.
Visit the AECOM Booth (Booth: 35-37) to check some of the technologies and see more examples.

- 5 June 13:30-15:00 (Level 2 S224 & 225)
Asia is one of the world’s fastest urbanising regions, providing significant opportunities and challenges for those shaping new developments or regenerating and re-integrating older ones. It has the ability to tip the scale for the rest of the world through its successes and failures. However, societal needs and environmental challenges in cities are growing in complexity.
Worldwide, there is reducing availability of green-field versus brown-field land. And decades of galloping urbanisation now raise the challenges of preserving the natural resources, heritage and public realms that distinguish and nurture the city, and that connect citizens with the city and with each other. Future climate change particularly for coastal cities and those in flood plains also makes the challenges even more complex.
This AECOM-moderated Session will engage panellists and audience participants in an exchange of experiences and innovative ideas to better anticipate and address the future design and delivery of sustainable neighbourhoods that achieve jointly positive economic, environmental and social impact. Meet the experts and learn the myths and musts of achieving sustainable neighbourhoods! 4. Session 3.7 High Performance Transportation Hubs: Their Critical Role and Requirements - 6 June 13:30-15:00 (Level 2 S224 & 225) The session provides a practical discussion on the challenges of integrating these large scale additions to the built environment successfully.
It features the WSBE17 host city of Hong Kong as one of its case studies. As the city moves forward with its strategies to update its role in the Pearl River Delta – and as Asia’s world city - we look at the globally pioneering approaches being implemented for the signature land, sea and air infrastructure to help its continuous evolution as a Smart City. How do high performance transportation hubs translate into high performance as a Smart City, and as a sustainable city?
This AECOM-moderated session will engage panellists and the audience in an exchange of experiences and ideas on how to continue providing transportation facilities that enrich people’s experiences of the world and enhance the future economic competitiveness of their cities and countries, with the least possible environmental degradation. Join the expert panellists to discuss the critical role and requirement for high performance transportation hubs! Register NOW to hear the insightful presentations from 450+ Speakers at WSBE17 Hong Kong and meet 1,800 experts from 55+ countries
