CASBEE's strategies towards green market transformation

Synopsis: 
CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency) has been constantly evolving since its official inauguration in 2003. JSBC (Japan Sustainable Building Consortium), the mother of CASBEE, gives further efforts to achieve market transformation by developing and promoting new relevant assessment tools including CASBEE-Dwelling Unit, CASBEE-Tenant, CASBEE-Property Appraisal, CASBEE-BIM, CASBEE-City (low-carbon) and CASBEE-Health, to be strategically added to the current family of comprehensive CASBEE tools.


Bio :
Kazuo Iwamura is the founder CEO of IWAMURA Atelier, Inc. in Tokyo. The practice focuses upon urban and architectural research, design, implementation and consulting, based on a holistic environmental design approach by networking related experts or organizations according to project features. R&D of CASBEE is one of his recent major commitments based on the related activities.
He is also a Professor at the Faculty of Environmental & Information Studies as well as the Faculty of Urban Life Studies, Tokyo City University, with a special interest is environmental design for a sustainable future.

He worked in urban and architectural design at Agence Candilis in Paris and Athens (1974-77), and co-founded AG5 (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Architektur und Städtebau) (1977-80) implementing the “Baubiologie” (Building and Biology) approach in architectural and urban design in Germany and the Middle East.

He is Vice-president of the International Union of Architects (UIA), Co-director of the UIA work program Architecture for a Sustainable Future, Director of the ARCASIA (Architects Regional Council Asia) Committee on Green & Sustainable Architecture, a past Vice-president of the Japan Institute of Architects, as well as a Director of World GBC as the representative of JaGBC (Japan GreenBuild Council).
