Ms Ivy LEE Siu-wing
Managing Director
Leigh & Orange Limited

Ivy is the Managing Director at Leigh & Orange (L&O), a firm she initially joined in 1998 having obtained a 1st Class Honours degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Shortly afterwards, in 2001 she became a Registered Architect in Hong Kong. She has consistently maintained a high degree of interest and engagement in her professional development, which has resulted in a high input to the design and green community through engagement in management, publicity and in the application of relevant skills and technologies to real design projects.

With an exemplary record for inspirational design and successful delivery of complex multi-disciplinary projects – both public and private sector – she can count some of her accomplishments among the most complex recent projects in the region. They include the ‘Hong Kong Science Park’, Phase 2 and the ‘City-of-Dreams’ and ‘Studio City’ Integrated Entertainment Resorts, Macau. Current projects continue to include various sizeable mixed use developments and hospitality projects in the PRC, Hong Kong and Macau respectively.

Ivy is the Director in-charge of L&O’s Sustainability Department largely due to positive attitude to green issues, and her approach to socially responsible building design and energy efficiency. L&O’s success under Ivy’s leadership has been recognized with L&O receiving the ‘HKGBC Green Building Merit Award – Residential Category’ in 2010.

Sustainability is one component of Ivy’s holistic approach to design, supported with personal qualifications and skills in environmentally friendly sustainable design, having both LEED AP (since 2009) and BEAM Pro (since 2010) qualifications. She leads the company in their pursuit of environmentally sustainable design practices and directs design teams to achieve BEAM projects; such as the ‘Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre’, ‘City University of Hong Kong’, Hong Kong (BEAM Platinum) and ‘HSBC Data Centre’, Hong Kong (BEAM Gold) and ‘Shatin Data Centre’, Hong Kong (LEED NC Platinum) etc.

Serving on the BEAM Society Limited (BSL)’s ‘Technical Review Panel’ (TRP) since 2008, Ivy is also a pro bono Director of BSL and was a Member of the ‘HKGBC Green Labeling Committee’ (GLC), 2012-15. She currently acts as the 2nd Vice-chairperson of BSL’s Management Committee and chaired the ‘Professional Development Committee’ (PDC) from 2012-15, whilst also a member of the ‘BEAM Plus Interiors Steering Committee’, ‘Continued Professional Development (CPD) Vetting Panel’, ‘Administration & Finance Committee ‘(A&FC), and the ‘BEAM Affiliate Roll-out Taskforce’.

Early in her career Ivy demonstrated a passion and an aptitude for design plus the management of the many complex multi-purpose projects that she was called upon to design and/or manage. She has been successful in applying her architectural skills and passion to several high-profile and challenging projects and demonstrated an attention to details, whilst simultaneously combining master planning, architectural and interior design skills along with the management of complex design integrations involving key specialism in the fields of highly technological design and sustainable architecture.

With her support of green initiatives and young designers she engages with and supports the design community through her pro bono work whilst simultaneously nurturing new talent by acting as a visiting design critic for the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
