World Sustainable Building Conference 2011 (SB11)
Helsinki, Finland, 18 ~ 21 October 2011

The World Sustainable Building Conference 2011 (SB11) was an international event that brought together the world leading stakeholders on sustainable built environments every three years.  The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) has the honour in leading the HK delegation to participate in the SB11 held in Helsinki, Finland from 18 to 21 October 2011.  The HK participation was supported by the Development Bureau, HKSAR Government, together with contribution from various key stakeholders in the building industry.

In the SB11, Mrs Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development, made a presentation in a special forum on Urban Development, which was co-organized by iiSBE (International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment) and UNEPSBCI (United Nations Environmental Programme – Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative).

The HKGBC had formed an Organising Committee to facilitate this major event, and two taskforces were set up to oversee the HK Exhibition Booth at the conference and to steer the editorial of the Hong Kong Report on the State of Sustainable Building 2011 respectively. Besides introducing the HKGBC, the exhibition and publication highlighted the latest green building development in HK with respect to policy, project, research and education. A technical tour was also arranged for the HK delegation to visit some green developments in Helsinki during the conference period.

The next would be SB14 to be held in Barcelona, Spain.
