BEAM Plus Passive Design

Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) has included the consultancy study on Building Passive Design in BEAM Plus in its roadmap for improvement in BEAM Plus assessment that took place from August to November in 2010.  It is one of the priorities in BEAM Plus, which leads to this consultancy that involves the technical development related to Building Passive Design.

ARUP is commissioned as the consultant to carry out this consultancy on “Passive Design for BEAM Plus Upgrading". The major scope of this study is to revisit the current BEAM Plus and identify the recognition of Building Passive Design with this green building assessment scheme. The details of this 4-month study from July to October in 2011 are:

  1. To review Building Passive Design related credits in current BEAM Plus;
  2. To carry out Gap Analysis for comparing the recognition of Building Passive Design between BEAM Plus and other building assessment schemes; and
  3. To provide recommendations on Building Passive Design credit weighting for BEAM Plus based on appropriate green building assessment schemes.

Arup is leading the study of BEAM Plus Upgrading with Building Passive Design, where Professor Edward Ng of Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Ronald Lu & Partners (Hong Kong) Ltd (RLP) is to provide full support to Arup for this study.
