CPD Webinar - Technical Talk on Multi-storey Hospital Projects in Hong Kong Built by MiC
This webinar is organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council.
Programme Highlights
Undertaking some ionic hospital projects in the city, China State Construction Engineering (HK) Ltd. (CSHK) has taken one of the leading roles in the application of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC). CSHK has diligently applied MiC in hospital projects by maximising the extent of MiC applications, including but not limited to wards, clinical rooms, staff accommodations, offices, classrooms & lecture facilities, pantries and toilets, by introducing innovative construction methods of MiC. The adoption of smart technology in the MiC design and construction process further optimises productivity, enables a larger extent of off-site prefabrication, enhances safety, assures quality and enhances green features.
Different from other building types such as hostels, residential apartments, or offices, which consist of a high level of repetition, the accommodation matrix in hospital always comes with low repetition. Hospital accommodations are usually varied in size, and their locations are scattered horizontally and vertically. In view of that, the project team from CSHK has explored other means of installation to enlarge the MiC application, in which both sliding and lifting methods were introduced. The project team will share their experience in exploring the application of MiC in the design development to construction for achieving low carbon construction.
