CPD Webinar - Sustainability by Design - The TKO Desalination Plant (TKODP) Project

This webinar is organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council.
The TKO Desalination Plant (TKODP) project is one of the strategic infrastructures by the Water Supplies Department (WSD) as part of her Total Water Management Strategy and mission to provide a reliable & adequate supply of wholesome potable water insusceptible to climate change. Upon commissioning of the first stage of TKODP, the production capacity of potable water is around 135 million litres per day (Mld), equivalent to 5% of daily fresh water consumption in Hong Kong, with future expansion to ultimate capacity of 270 Mld.
The TKODP project has been adopting sustainable designs on extensive aspects of project construction, including temporary works, civil & structure works and E&M provisions. With a combination of DfMA, MiC and MiMEP construction methods in practice, the Project has enjoyed the benefits of better quality control, less rectification works thus wastes, fewer site machineries, and in turn lower carbon emissions as a whole.
The Project Team is going to share their sustainability and low-carbon journey starting from scratch to implementation while some green features of the BEAM Plus v1.2 objectives would be highlighted.
