CPD Webinar - The Story of Carbon Neutrality during Construction Period - Organic Waste Treatment Facilities Phase 2 (O▪Park2)

This webinar is organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council.
O▪PARK2 will be the largest food waste treatment facility in Hong Kong by early 2024 and will be one of the most sustainable construction projects in Hong Kong construction industrial sector. To flagship its sustainability, O▪PARK2 will be the first construction project in China to achieve carbon neutrality during construction period, and the first construction project in Hong Kong in compliance with the international standards for certified voluntary emission reduction.
Integrated with the BEAM Plus New Building v1.2 Platinum standards, O▪PARK2 proactively upgraded the sustainable supply chain by applying numerous low-carbon building materials (e.g. GGBS concrete) and cutting-edge technologies (e.g. CCUS), adopted leading construction approaches (e.g. MiC & DfMA), implemented construction electrification measures, and developed digital systems for carbon emission management (e.g. Carbon Neutrality Cloud Platform). As of Dec 2022, O▪PARK2 delivered the astonishing progressive outcome to successfully achieve 4,269 tones of CO2-e reduction, which is 1.33 times greater compared to the planned target.
Simultaneously, O▪PARK2 cooperated with Core Climate - the first international carbon trading exchange market in Hong Kong, to participate in the first batch of carbon trading, legitimising progressive carbon neutrality.
By means of applying sustainable management and adopting innovative technologies, and supporting voluntary emission reduction, O▪PARK2 strived for decarbonisation and earned many recognitions and awards. O▪PARK2 was granted with UNIDO Global Call 2022 Winner in Jan 2023, HKAEE 2021 Gold Award in Feb 2023, ICE Awards 2023: Brunel Medal 2023 in Apr 2023 and etc. Looking ahead, O▪PARK2 is willing to share the experience for decarbonisation and play an essential role in Hong Kong’s low-carbon transformation.
